It will take some time before it completely replaces flash!
Flash is not yet obsolete.
It's just lost out with the tablet/mobile browsers.
The <canvas> element is not as responsive or lag free as flash.
It's got limitations when it comes to certain versions of chrome & safari.
But to an extent this is what killed flash.
Only time will tell!

Incidentally, the element of html5 is not compatible on older browsers like IE8 & below. It will be a while before most elements & attributes of html5 are a recognised standard like 4.4!
